About Music ReTuner Browser Extensions
Product basics
What are the Music ReTuner browser extensions?
The Music ReTuner browser extensions are an add-on that allows you to retune the audio of YouTube videos or music on Apple Music and YouTube Music in real time.
How does it work?
The extension intercepts the audio stream from Apple and YouTube, applies a real-time pitch-shifting algorithm, and then plays it back to you — retuned to your desired frequency (e.g., 432 Hz).
Which browsers are supported?
YouTube Music ReTuner is compatible with Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox (desktop & Android), and Apple Safari (Mac & iOS).
Does it work on mobile browsers?
YouTube Music ReTuner is available as a browser extension for Safari users on iOS and Mozilla Firefox users on Android. NOTE: It will NOT work with the native YouTube or Apple Music apps on your phone — open youtube.com in your mobile browser to use it.
What frequencies can I tune to?
You can retune to all of the Solfeggio frequencies and the popular 432 Hz. The full list is: 174 Hz, 285 Hz, 396 Hz, 417 Hz, 432 Hz, 528 Hz, 639 Hz, 741 Hz, 852 Hz, 963 Hz.
Technical behaviour
Is the tuning permanent?
No. The tuning only applies during your session while the extension is active.
Does it affect video speed or just the pitch?
Only the pitch is altered. The tempo and playback speed remain the same.
Can I retune AND set a different playback speed through the player control?
No — you can either change the frequency playback or the content playback speed. Not both.
Can I use it on music videos and regular content alike?
Yes — it works on all YouTube videos and Apple Music videos, including music, lectures, podcasts and more.
Will it work on YouTube Shorts, YouTube Music, or live streams?
YouTube Shorts: yes, but performance may vary. YouTube Music: yes. Live streams: not currently supported due to real-time audio constraints.
Will retuning change how instruments and voices sound?
Yes, but subtly. Instruments and vocals will be slightly lower (or higher) depending on the direction of tuning, yet retain their natural timbre.
Does this affect video sync?
No. The extension is designed to maintain lip-sync and timing between video and audio.
Install & troubleshooting
- Refresh the page.
- Lower the audio quality temporarily.
- Disable other audio-based extensions (equalizers, boosters) that may conflict.
How do I install it?
Visit our download page and click the button for your browser. Approve the permissions and you're ready to go.
The audio sounds distorted or glitchy — what do I do?
The extension doesn't seem to do anything — how do I fix it?
Make sure it's enabled in your browser's extensions panel. Play a video, then click the extension icon to select a target frequency.
Will it interfere with my headphones or Bluetooth speakers?
No. The tuning is done at the browser level, so any output device will receive the adjusted audio cleanly.
Does the extension collect my data?
No. The Music ReTuner extensions do not track or store any personal data, browsing history or audio content.
Is it safe to use?
Absolutely. It runs entirely in your browser and doesn't interact with your Google account, YouTube login or saved playlists.
